COMMIS CHEF

Nestled on the majestic slopes of Cape Town's Table Mountain, our exclusive luxury boutique hotel is seeking a passionate Commis Chef who thrives on delivering perfection.
You will play a pivotal role in supporting our Senior Chefs, mastering new techniques, and contributing to the exquisite dining experiences that define our brand.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Provide comprehensive support to the Senior Chefs in all cooking processes, meticulously following instructions to prepare mise en place and ensure accurate, on-time readiness for each shift
- Assist with precise ingredient preparation and supporting elegant plating
- Maintain immaculate workstations, adhering to all food hygiene and safety standards
- Assisting in managing stock rotation in various sections of the kitchen
- Actively seek to learn new skills and apply feedback for continuous improvement
REQUIREMENTS
- National Senior Certificate (Matric)
- Relevant culinary qualifications or extensive practical experience in culinary arts
- A minimum of 2 years as a chef in a hotel kitchen, with proven experience in stock control, plating, à la carte, and buffet breakfast service
- Experience in catering for functions
- A flair for creativity in dish preparation and presentation
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Exceptional attention to detail in all aspects of food preparation, presentation, and hygiene
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
